[subtitler-l] need advice to understand the proper process

Hi all,

I've been testing the demo but I'm new to subtitling so I apologize in
advance for the noob questions.

1. I wish to offer translation/subtitling services to English language
documentary producers (therefore mostly in the UK and the US), which implies
different frame rates depending if they're from NSTC or PAL countries,
right? What information do I need from them to make sure that I can provide
them with a usable file?
The NLE are they editing on
The version of that NLE
The framerate
What else?

2. Would it be useful to prepare some test files covering all cases (like
for example UK FCP version x.xx, or US Avid version x.xx) with some sample
subtitles at fixed times to immediately check that the file is read properly
by the editor's NLE?

3. Is it useful to provide a text file anyway with the TIFF or whatever?

4. Belle-Nuit doesn't offer on-video preview of the subtitles (which I find
makes it hard to check readability), are there other ways to check the final
result, with the subtitles superimposed on the video? What are the options?

I hope someone will have the time to read this and answer
Looking forward to becoming a Belle-Nuit customer
Thanks in advance

Sebastian
